AI x EdTech: What It Takes to Build Useful AI for Education

DateThursday, May 28, 2026

AI is rapidly changing how people learn, practice, and teach. But in education, the real question is not just "Can AI generate study materials?" It is: can AI create useful, personalized, trustworthy learning experiences that actually fit into schools, tutoring businesses, publishers, and enterprise training?

For our May event, Taiwan AI Startups Community will explore EdTech x AI through the lens of language learning, AI speaking practice, and the infrastructure needed to bring AI-powered education products into the real world.

We'll be joined by the founding team of Unicorn Tutor AI, a Taiwan-based AI education startup building AI-powered language learning infrastructure. Unicorn Tutor describes its platform as designed for hyper-personalized instruction, real-time corrections, and learning insights for academies and institutions.

This session will look at both sides of the EdTech AI equation: the founder/operator side of scaling education products, and the engineering side of building real-time AI speaking infrastructure.

Presentation Topic: Building AI Speaking Infrastructure for the Future of Education

Albert and K will cover:

• How AI is reshaping language learning and speaking practice
• What it takes to move from EdTech marketplace models to AI-native education products
• How schools, publishers, and enterprises are adopting AI learning infrastructure
• The technical challenges behind real-time AI speaking lessons
• Speech recognition, pronunciation scoring, correction models, and curriculum alignment
• What founders and builders should understand about selling AI products into education

Venue Partner: Goffee 圍棋咖啡廳

We're grateful to Goffee 圍棋咖啡廳 for supporting this month's Taiwan AI Startups Community event as our venue partner. Goffee is Taiwan's first Go café, a community space where coffee, conversation, strategy, and learning come together. Beyond Go, Goffee also supports Taiwan's AI ecosystem by opening its venue to AI communities, meetups, and builder-focused events.

Light food and drinks will be provided by the organizers. Please help us take care of the space and follow the venue guidelines during the event.

Speakers

Albert Cano

CEO & Co-Founder, Unicorn Tutor AI

Albert Cano is the CEO and Co-Founder of Unicorn Tutor AI. He speaks 7 languages and previously served as GM at AmazingTalker, where he helped scale the platform from 2K to 1M+ students. He is now building AI infrastructure for education, helping schools, publishers, and enterprises launch AI speaking lessons under their own brand and curriculum, with clients across Taiwan, Spain, Latin America, and the US. Albert brings a rare 360-degree perspective on EdTech: he has been the student learning 7 languages, the teacher teaching Spanish, English, and Mandarin, and the GTM operator scaling a marketplace to over 1M users. Now, he is building the AI layer that connects all three.

K Alnajar

CTO & Co-Founder, Unicorn Tutor AI

K Alnajar is the CTO and Co-Founder of Unicorn Tutor AI. He is an ex-AWS engineer and Techstars alum. K leads the technical architecture behind Unicorn Tutor's real-time AI speaking engine, including speech recognition, correction models, pronunciation scoring, and white-label infrastructure that can be deployed for clients in hours. He'll share how AI can solve some of the hardest technical problems in language education from the engineering side.

Discussion Topic

What Does It Take to Build Useful AI for Education?

After the presentation, we'll continue with a founder-focused discussion on the real opportunities and challenges in EdTech x AI. We'll discuss questions such as: How do you build AI learning tools that teachers and institutions actually trust? What should be automated, and what should remain human? How do AI-native education products differ from traditional EdTech platforms? What are the biggest opportunities for AI education startups in Taiwan and globally?
